What is this growth in our vegetable garden?

We added mulch on top of the soil in our vegetable garden. Not sure what growth is this. We have to planters side by side, one has vegetables and one has wildflowers. Same soil, same mulch. Both planters have started growing things but noticed this strange stuff on vegetable side. New to Texas New homeowner First time gardening Basically a noop. TIA
