How early to get to MMP for todays game?

I’m going to my first Astros game since 2007 today. I’ve searched the subreddit for advice on maximizing my experience today, a lot of people are saying to get there early but would 5:30 be too late?

I partially also want to get there early enough to be able to get one of the Fanny packs they’re giving away today.

Also, parking wise, if I don’t have a parking pass, is it going to be a nightmare? Should I bite the bullet and get one? Or are there enough cash lots that are convenient around the park?
