What is the best area to stay in when going to a game at NRG?

Looking for a nice hotel and a cool Houston vibe near good local restaurants. Some travel to and from the stadium is okay.

Do people stay near the stadium? Near defined as 5 minutes driving or less.

FWIW, I live in Atlanta.
