Anybody else tired of the number of people driving without insurance?

I think it's time cops start actively (automatically) scanning license plates for valid insurance as they drive. If an insurance policy on a car is lapsed for more that x number of days (something like 30-45 days), they should be pulled over and ticketed.

Before anybody mentioned, it's not uncommon for people to buy insurance for yearly inspection and then cancel it right after.
