Has anyone taken their kids to story time post Covid?
I’ve been taking kiddos to story time at Houston libraries for many years now and always felt they were pretty good. Each one had its own way of doing things and it was all fine with me. They all seemed to follow the same pattern though. Playtime, then story time where you followed along with the book, with a songs sprinkled in and then a craft that tied into the theme of the day.
Then Covid hit and they canceled story time and recently, I think a year ago, started story time back up.
Today was the first time I’ve taken kiddos to story time since Covid and I was surprised at just how low quality it was. They read 3 stories, no books for us to follow along with, 2 songs and then we were done.
I’m trying to figure out if this is a location specific issue, a money issue, or a Covid issue so if you’ve taken your kiddos to story time lately can you tell me how it was? If this is just how this location does things I’ll find another library, if it’s how Houston does story time then I’ll branch out into the suburbs.
