Could I survive living on $900 a month- if my monthly “rent” was only $300?

I plan on buying a condo in cash so that I would only have to pay for the HOA which is $300 m/o. This includes the property insurance and water and trash. I know this is a high HOA but all the condos in my price range are in that HOA bracket.

I’m not sure about how much it really cost to live in Houston, does anyone have any insight into this?
