Is Galveston a good city for young, single, professional women?

I (28F) plan on moving to the Houston area once I’m 30. I keep going back and forth between Houston proper and Galveston, and can’t seem to make up my mind.

One thing that concerns me a bit (and matters to me perhaps the most) is the median age of Galveston’s population, which is apparently 39.9 years. I know that’s not much older than I will be once I actually move, but it’s significantly older than Houston and anywhere I’ve ever lived. I just don’t want to move there only to find out that everyone there is already coupled up and settled in their lives. I definitely want my new city to have a lively dating scene.

Any opinions on the dating scene in Galveston and/or Houston?
