What do people here think about the local music scene?

I just started going to shows last October after a friend invited me to come see his band. From the jump I was in love, spent the whole night dancing, chatting with strangers, bein high. Have been consistently going out to a show or two every weekend since, usually punk or indie gigs, and have made plenty of new friends. Feels good to have a community.

But I've heard people talk down on the local scene/quality of the local bands, and according to a few vets the scene as it currently exists really only sprung in the past few years, before it was less of a 'thing'. I don't know how true that is, but either way what are yall's thoughts/opinions/smug comments on our lovely city's music?
