Petland update- more puppy mill puppies arrive, BARC does…. nothing?

Thank you to everyone who called the Mayor's office about Petland continuing to sell puppy mill puppies, in violation of Houston's animal protection laws.

Unfortunately, Petland just got in 2 dozen more puppies and continue to flout the law.

BARC has publicly stated they will only cite once a week, instead of every day that the store refuses to follow the law. They also appear to cite for just one puppy, when over 30 are in the store. This is a woefully inadequate response.

If it angers you that the city lets Petland break the law, and takes no serious action to fix this, there are managers at BARC who need to hear your concerns. Otherwise, more mother dogs will languish in puppy mill cages, being bred until their bodies wear out, at which point they get a bullet in the head.

Please ask these two to cite Petland for EVERY puppy in the store, not just one. And to go EVERY day to cite, not just once a week.

You can also call and request they enforce the law and cite Petland for each day, and each puppy. (713) 229-7300
