Burial Plot / Funeral Question

Mom wants to preplan her funeral. Wants to get buried. Anyone recently purchased a burial plot? I looked online and says average plots go for $3000 but that data must have been before inflation since I'm getting quoted anywhere between $5000-$12000 in Houston. If I go out to Richmond or Greens point it drops significantly. Anyone had to deal with this recently?
