Bring Mike Evans home.

I’m not usually on the “bring every guy that just got cut or asked for a trade in” train. This one however makes a whole lot of sense.

The Buccs are seriously cash strapped. They are also entering tank season now that Brady is retiring. After Brady’s cap is given back, they’re still more than $20M in the hole.

If Mike Evans is a POST June 1 cut, he saves them $19M. He’s also in the last year of his contract. It’s now or never to get value for him. However at 31 and only 1 season under contract he shouldn’t be an insane amount.

Also as a Post June 1 cut it would have to be a 2024 pick he’s traded for.

Currently our 2024 Cap Space is comically big at over $150M. Obviously after FA and the draft plus extensions that will whittle down to about $85M, but still…monster extension room for Evans.

Evans gets to come home to play, and assuming the Texans draft a QB that excited him, he could sign an extension that lets him wrap up his career here. We all know Caserio wants local guys on the team.
