What would be the comparison of Southeast Texas (Greater Houston) and Karafuto oil fields and gas companies if U.S occupied Karafuto Island and later Japan kept Karafuto with expansion oil deposits?

POD: Japan occupied entire Sakhalin (Karafuto) Island by late 19th century as an exploration.

Alternate History: On Aug.15, the Emperor of Japan announced an unconditional surrender to the Allies via the radio broadcast. The mightily American military forces prepared the full takeover of Karafuto Island to protect the interests of Japanese oil deposits. During the hearing, Truman’s advisor clarified the policies to save the oil deposits of Karafuto from fallen to the Soviet. Therefore, American forces occupied Karafuto and Chishima (Kuril Islands) for 7 years.

Greater Houston and Karafuto shared the common values producing high volume of extracting oil at the gas companies (oil deposits)? What do you think?
