Should I stay in Sugar Land or near the Galleria?

I'm going to be in town for 30 days for work. It seems my two options are to stay in either Sugar Land or the Galleria area. I'm a low key guy but I do like to get out and wander around and see the sights on the weekend. I like to run in the evening, so low crime is a priority too. Which area would be the best to stay for a month?
