Is there anywhere good to check out live music during the today?

I am flying in to Houston today with a friend to catch a show tonight at Sawyer Park and we will have about eight hours to kill before the show. I am wondering if there are any cool bars or cafes that have live music at all during the day. If you have other recommendations on things to do in Houston on a potentially Rainey day, I am all ears. We are flying in just for the show and are on the first flight out tomorrow morning so no hotel or anywhere like that to hang out.
