Is Houston right for me?
Hello everyone. Kind of in a unique situation; my upcoming job in Manhattan is now remote for the remainder of the year (for obvious reasons), so I’m looking to move to a Houston until I have to report in person to the office.
Me: Early 20’s, am looking at Houston to live for the rest of 2020, and would be living solo, but had a few questions before booking a flight and scoping it out.
1) How’s the nightlife? I’m young, and enjoy the club scene a lot. I want to drink with people fresh out of college as well. I’ve read from older posts that Midtown is the place to be, but these posts are years old and I would like to hear more recent testimonials, because I’ll be renting an apartment close to the most lively nightlife area, leading to…
2) Can I find a 2br apartment for around $1800 in said area? I need 2 bedrooms to make one an office – since I’m working remotely for a job in NYC I don’t have to commute anywhere, so I’d rather keep work away from my bedroom.
3) Okay, now I have a location and an apartment. Can I travel without a car? Places I would need to go (in walking distance or a short Uber away) would be the gym, the grocery store, and the golf course.
4) What’s your personal recommendation on my situation, is moving to Houston alone in my early 20’s a good idea, even though it’s only for 6 months?
Houston ticks a lot of boxes for me. It’s warm, low cost of living (compared to manhattan), and seems like a fun place. Let me know if you can answer any of these questions.
Thanks
