#3: Drought & Extreme Heat

Dry & hot conditions lead to widespread Extreme/Exceptional Drought across SE Texas bringing Burn Bans, agricultural impacts, and low river levels. This past summer was either the warmest or 2nd warmest summer on record for our climate sites.

#2: January Tornado and Flooding Event

The year started out with a bang as a system moved through the area producing 6 tornadoes and localized flooding. The highest rainfall total of the event was 9.92" in Montgomery County.

#1: March Tornado Outbreak

A system moved through the area in March that produced 7 tornadoes across SE Texas – the largest March tornado event on record. The strongest tornado, and EF2, of the event occurred in Crockett.
