My first speeding citation question

So yesterday I was pulled over for the first time and given a speeding citation for going 60 on a 45 (lesson learned). Did a bit of research on this sub and some people were saying when you show up to your first court date that you can request a trial by jury which reschedules the court date for another 6-8 months. And apparently this in turn should increase the chances of the cop that pulled me over not showing up to court and my case being dismissed?

Is this a route i should take if there is a chance i don’t have to pay any amount of money? I understand even if the cop does show up to the rescheduled date i’m planning on asking and paying for Defensive driving to get my record clean.
