can someone explain lovie smiths love for cover 2 zone

i feel like stingley is being put in a position that doesn’t set him up for success he’s a physical fast DB and we’re playing him 5-7 yrd away from the wr allowing them just to cut in his face before they get there or they run past him and sit in the hole behind him while he covers the flat. i feel like this staff has let him down. curious on yall opinions
