Metro to Texans Game Question

I am going to the Texans game on Thursday and planned on parking at the Houston Zoo (free parking), and taking the Hermann Park Red Line Metro to NRG stadium. Is this a good idea? Will my car be safe? Will the metro be running after the game? (will probably end around 10:30-12 midnight.
