Advice for getting a job at U of H?

My husband doesn’t use Reddit but we’re wondering if anyone can offer advice on getting hired at U of H. He used to work in fabrication for several years but he’s tired of that industry for many reasons. He’s wanting to go back for his math degree so he’s looking for any job at the university to keep commuting simple. He’s applied to dozens of entry level positions however and hasn’t been offered any interviews. His resume and cover letters have been reviewed by an HR friend of ours so I don’t think that’s the root of the cause. We would appreciate any advice!

Please keep comments constructive and kind, however. I’ve seen a lot of negativity on Reddit lately and hope to not run into that personally.
