Fans from Philly, Dad with Cancer, maybe hoping for some Reddit Magic to make World Series Memories…
What’s up Astros fam!
Lifelong Philadelphian who used to cut class to go watch Kevin Millwood throw No-Hitters in the late 90’s at Veteran’s Stadium checking in. The Phillies have always been an important thru line for my family of 4 — we’ve been sharing photos and memories of the 2008 run and our great luck getting tickets to be in the building to see our beloved Phillies win the WS.
These past few months have been incredibly tough on my fam as my dad was diagnosed with Cancer for the 2nd time in 5 years. He beat it the first time, we’re all hopeful he can do it again now.
Sharing this here because our family chat (and my dad’s general health and attitude) has been reinvigorated with this playoff run, and I thought I’d try and create a lasting memory for us by trying surprise my dad with a trip down to Houston for a game.
Obviously, if money was no issue I’d buy on Stubhub and call it a day…but really seeing the “affordable” tickets on the web largely as SRO tickets which don’t work for us given my dads’ condition.
Thought I’d try and see if the magic of the internet might help us find some actual seats folks would be willing to part with for a decently fair price, knowing you’d be really helping a family during a difficult time. We’d of course always be there to return the favor if and when you want to come on a tour of the food scene in Philly (I know I know Houston’s and Philly’s food scene both don’t f**k around), and we’ll hold the camera (with no judgement!) while you run the Rocky steps.
And if this post gets no traction still nothing but excitement and appreciation for the series ahead. Good luck stros, Go Phils, and F**k Cancer.
