What’s a fun area to spend 6 weeks in Houston?

Hello! Sorry if this has been asked a million times. I tried searching the subreddit but I couldn’t quite find any suggestions in the area I’m looking for.

My wife and I will be spending 6 weeks in Houston next spring while she’s on a clinical rotation. She’ll be working off of the 69 and Wesleyan, and we’d like to stay somewhere relatively close. We’ll have 2 pets with us, a dog and a cat. So I guess I have two questions- is there a part of town near these cross streets that you would recommend staying in? And if so, are there any particular hotels or AirBnB’s you would recommend staying in?

We both love taking the dog for long walks and finding new places to eat, so we’d like to be in an area that’s both fun and safe!
