Why is canceling a Chron.com subscription so difficult

Unfortunate circumstances led me to have to buy a digital subscription to Chron and I remembered I needed to cancel it today before I got charged again. Do you realize how difficult it is to do this!? Not only can you not do it online, you have to call a number and practically beg them to do it for you after waiting on hold and getting transferred around a few times. Even when I told the 3rd person I wanted to cancel, not only did they not do it, it turned out they signed me up for more time! Now my inbox is flooded with chron newsletters! It's insane the lengths you have to go to cancel that thing. Like a fucking zombie that won't die.
