When will unemployment benefits run out?

I was on unemployment briefly after my separation from the military and I remember that as a result of my work history and contributions I had x amount of benefits to use. So aside from getting a job, do unemployment benefits cease after a while?

The reason why I am asking is because I have a couple of friends I want to hire them at my job but I suspect that at the moment they are making more on unemployment and the extra $600 while staying safe at home so it may not be the best time for them
