(Just moved)How to make friends without a car

Hey everyone, I’ve just moved to Houston down from Ohio a few weeks ago.I find this place really cool so far, there’s a lot to do and I even went to my first concert here. But I’m having problems making friends here and it’s making me homesick and missing my ohio friends even more. I’m not sure on how to do it without a car; I just barely know anyone in the area,so even though I’m very outgoing I don’t get many chances to actually connect with people. Please give me ideas
