Metro Q Card balance staying the same?

About a year ago, I got a university Q card for the Metro rail. I used it this week about three times and have noticed that the balance is still the same each time. The green light turns on when I tap the card on the red button, so I think the card is still valid.

Will this cause any problems if I ever see a fare inspector?
