Funeral Procession Rules

Don’t be a jerk. If you see Metro Police wave you to SLOW DOWN behind a funeral procession on the freeway, then do it.

I had to go pick up my specialized plates downtown this morning. When I was leaving after picking the plates up in this hellish rain and I was trying to get on the 44 on-ramp, a funeral procession passed me by. Two metro police in the front, two metro police in the back.

I actually pulled over on the on-ramp because there was a huge procession of cars lights blinking to get on 45. When they finally passed with the two metro police officers behind them, I tried to merge RESPECTFULLY over.

Then here comes two jerks in a BMW and a Camaro. Not only did they cut me off, but they tried to merge into the funeral procession. Further down the highway, after I would say 3 miles, more cars tried to merge into the funeral procession and metro police were trying to wave them off.

What in God’s name is wrong with people? People are mourning the dead and we are so into ourselves and being narcissistic and selfish that we have to try to merge into a goddamn funeral procession. Can we just take a moment and not be in such a goddamn rush that we interrupt a procession to honor someone who died? Are we that bad as a society? I was horrified.

This has been bothering me all goddamn day. Clearly I don’t know the person that died, or the family. But if someone close to me has died and some asshole in a BMW and a Camaro tried to cut off the procession I would be furious. It’s just a matter of honor and respect.

That’s all folks.
