Houston Beaches

I’m going to be in houston for a softball tournament on a Saturday and wanted to know if anyone can recommend a decent beach for my kids to relax in (7,11). I was going to just drive to Rockport, but did not realize that it is almos a 3 hour drive. A lil help please. Thanks in advance!
