I read the 42 page lawsuit myself, here’s my thoughts
So first of all, Jesus fucking Christ.
Findings:
- The Texans were aware of the fact that Watson was sexually assaulting multiple massage therapists. Now, I don’t know how far up that knowledge went but we do know that the Director of sports medicine and the head of security were aware of his actions.
- Megan Weisheit, who worked for Gentle Touch, the massage therapy that the Texans contracted for their players, complained to both the Texans and Watson’s manager about his actions. Multiple of the massage therapists that worked for Touch complained about his actions but her complaints fell on deaf ears. When she heard a Texans player had assaulted one of the massage therapists she asked “You don’t have to tell me, but was it DeShaun Watson?”. The text messages are included in the lawsuit. She was also deposed by Buzbee earlier and she was the one that took the 5th on every question.
- The owner of Gentle Touch, Joni complained to the Texans that Watson was seeing outside massage therapists and that he was going to get Covid and give it to her massage therapists.
- Ronald Ramirez the Director of Sports Medicine pleaded with Watson not to use outside therapists and only to do massages in the facility, but he refused to comply. He knew Watson was driving to go to the personal homes of these therapists.
- They (Ramirez and Easterby) setup a membership at the Houstonian but it couldn’t be under Watson’s own name because he didn’t meet the age requirement (the Houstonian is a country club and I used to belong to one and the minimum age was 25, so this makes sense)
- Smith, one of the massage therapists, threatened to expose Watson after an incident and posted a message saying “I should expose you bitch” along with his phone number and his cash app screenshot. She posted a video on YouTube and a post on Instagram. Since it contained private information, the head of security got it removed from Instagram and that’s when he provided Watson with the NDA.
- There were other players that were having sex with one of the massage therapists, and when that was found out the therapist was fired. There was no assault or non-consensual acts that were alleged, just consensual sex
- Watson was also having sex (consensually) with one of the therapists from Touch.
Here are the text messages from the lawsuit:
So far it does not look good, and yes I’m worried not just about a fine bit of the NFL will sanction us because of this.
Beyond football, I’m quite disgusted. I have defended the Texans saying it didn’t make sense how they would know. But now it looks absolutely terrible.
