Booked a 5-day trip to Houston in August 16-20 this year but worried about hurricane season. Should I still go or cancel?

I didn’t realize that it was hurricane season. I know that August is the hottest month which is fine by me but I read somewhere online that there will be more hurricanes predicted for this year. I’m starting to think that I made the wrong decision to book this time.
