Explosion then lights flickered?

So i live near the 290 area, and literally 10 minutes ago me and my neighbors heard an explosion and the lights flickered. I have a friend 3 streets down and he said the same thing. Thought it might be a transformer but we didnt see any sparks or flames. Anyone experienced the same thing or might have a guess?
