[Montrose] Building a patio cover in my backyard…should I pull a permit?

Is it worth spending almost $1,900 for the contractor to pull a permit for this job? It will be a gable roof patio cover attached to the back of the home. I had a family member use the same contractor so I know they do great work. My family member pulled a permit because they’re in the suburbs and their HOA requires it. No HOA in my neighborhood in Montrose.

I’m not in a historic district either.

Thoughts?
