Bistro Menil a Culinary Gem near the Menil Collection

Art Meets fine dining at Bistro Menil

The Ambience

The Bistro Minil had a very calm and relaxing ambiance on the porch. There were several oak trees around the area my associate and I were sitting, giving a refreshing bit of shade to the porch. It was in a very quiet area even though we were in the middle of the city.

The Food

I ordered the Cesar Salad and my associate ordered the Porcini Rub Burger as well as the Crabcakes. To start the Cesar Salad was delicious, the croutons were perfectly toasted and the dressing was pretty good. With the salad came white anchovies on the top as well as a generous sprinkling of what I believe was PARMIGIANO rEGGIANO.

Next WAS the Porcini Rub Burger. It was a delicious-looking burger, having bacon, truffle cheese, and caramelized onions in the burger. The actual burger was a porcini mushroom rubbed pattie. It also had potato wedges on the side.

The finale is the crabcakes. To start with the crab cakes were perfectly toasted and topped with microgreens. My associate decided to have the mayonnaise on the side of her crabcakes instead of on them. With the crabcakes, you have two sides. My associate chose the mashed cauliflower and a vinaigrette salad. The cauliflower mash was a very delicious side. The vinaigrette salad had a sliced tomato on it with an assortment of greens.

Overall I would recommend and come back to the Bistro Minil in the future. It is also very scenic to walk around the area when the weather is cool. We walked to the Minil Collection a short walk away AND THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY OF sT THOMAS CAMPUS.
