Buc-ee’s in Katy is cheaping out on soda – The Decline And Fall
You heard it here first: Buc-ee’s is cutting corners.
They have 100 fountains, but not a single one is Coke Zero. Why is it that one of the largest gas stations in the world can’t fill one of its hundred fountains with Coke Zero?
When movie chains do this, we forgive them. Times have been hard, movie chains. Pepsi on and good luck.
But Buc-ee’s? Et tu brute? You charge $400 for caramel flavored corn and can’t abide paying for Coke syrup?
Alternative: if you’re traveling westbound, the Timewise the exit before will have perfect nugget ice and—surprise—Coke products. More than one Coke product, even! How do they even manage to supply such wide selection in such a small gas station?
Buc-ee’s, you’re on notice. This is clearly a signifier that we are living in the ‘extract profits’ phase and the end of the ‘focus on superior product to build goodwill’ phase. I get it, you’re on the downhill and going to enrichen yourself all the way to the bottom.
