Lake Livingston fishing

Hey all,

I am planning a family camping trip in May and I would like to include fishing to the schedule. In my youth, I used to do a lot of saltwater fishing around the gulf both on boat and pier, but freshwater fishing is something that I have just about no clue of. Does anyone have helpful links on strategic fishing guides for lake fishing with no boat? Looking for the types of fish i would find and best rigs and lurers, also if i would need to bring bait of any kind. I also have the appropriate fishing poles, when I was about 12 I went to lake Livingston with my parents and brought a saltwater fishing pole with 50# test and rig, that day I caught nothing but a sunburn.
