How we can make the best out of this awful situation.

Let’s get this out of the way first: trading Hops was the worst trade in history. Alright. Yes, we should’ve gotten better picks. Cool. We don’t have a top 5 WR anymore. You’re right.

Now that we got that out of the way, what options do we have to make our team better? Here’s what I’m thinking:

1. Sign Everson Griffen to a 2 year deal. Obviously we don’t have the best pass rush. Having Griffen and JJ on the line can at least resemble an intimidating pass rush. Griffen is getting up there in age, but he’s definitely still productive.

2. Sign Suh to a cheap one year deal. Reader’s run stopping dominance is gone, unfortunately. Suh can hold that spot down for us. I’m willing to risk opposing QB’s getting their nuts stomped on. I don’t care about them, it’s fine.

3. Sign Vonn Bell. He hasn’t been the most productive so far in his career but he’s still a young safety at 25 years old. He’s got time to put it all together. Might as well take a flyer with him the way we did Vernon Hargreaves and Garson Conley last year. Gipson and Reid will still hold the safety position down but having young depth with potential isn’t the worst thing to have.

4. Now I’m almost certain we’re gonna draft a WR in the second. Grand Master Plan: drafting the next Michael Thomas. But if we don’t, I’m thinking the best way to salvage this WR Corp is by signing either Robby Anderson or Breshad Perriman. Anderson/Perriman, Fuller, KeKe/Cobb as our WR Corp. I can’t imagine any defense being able to cover every one of these receivers. Add Watson’s ability to extend the play and we’ve got something potentially special brewing in Houston. Worst case scenario, pass it to JT/Fells or dump it off to the DJ’s. Doesn’t sound too bad, right? (Don’t mention Fuller’s injury history or KeKe’s lack of development thus far, I know this, I’m just trying to be optimistic)

Now as much as I hate this trade, I’m almost certain that David Johnson will have a top 10 season with us. He’s had injury riddled seasons recently but so did Hyde before he came into town and look at what he did with us. I predict at least 1000 rushing yards, 7 rushing TD’s, 350 yards receiving, 4 receiving TD’s (draft him early third in your fantasy seasons y’all, trust me). Duke Johnson’s also a reliable backup so expect a lot out of our backfield this coming year.

Don’t consider me a BoB apologist. I hate this man with every inch of my soul. I doubt we’ll even make any of these moves either but it’s fun to think about hypotheticals. Here’s hoping we suck and we fire this Chip Kelly clone asap. If worst come to worst remember this y’all, the Eagles managed to win a Super Bowl a couple years after Chip Kelly gutted their team.
