Hanan’s Cafe started seven years ago as a great idea to bring foods from various Latin countries together in one fabulous fusion. At Hanan’s Cafe in Cypress, Texas you can sit down to a healthy or hearty breakfast. There’s also the option of enjoying the great coffee options with a croissant or one of the many delicious desserts. From the tapas style plate like the empanadas to the best tasting eggs benedict you have ever had – Hanan’s has you covered. Lunch brings many options to your table as well. The Kitchen Tour Went Down Like This:

Restauranteur Amy takes us on a behind the scenes tour of the kitchen at Hanan’s Cafe. Chef Napo is hard at working and does a great job in making the difficult to prepare dishes look like a piece of cake!

About the Eggs Benedict

Within a matter of minutes, he prepares a plate of Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, and it looks like a masterpiece! He starts by grilling the English Muffin then poaches to eggs to complete perfection. He quickly follows this up by placing fresh salmon on top of the grilled English Muffin and that’s when the real magic begins. The salmon is joined by avocado slices, seasonings, the poached egg and the star of the show…the Hollandaise sauce. Served on the side are lightly fried rosemary potatoes. These potatoes compliment the dish – especially when it touches part of the Hollandaise sauce. If you plan ahead with this dish, you could even combine some of that egg yolk with the hollandaise sauce and the rosemary potatoes all in one fearless bite. 

I’ve become a new fan of Eggs Benedict as I’ve tried several Eggs Benedicts from some of the best restaurants for breakfast in Houston…what I didn’t know about this dish is that it originated in New York City. For those of you who know the commercial – say it with me again “From New York City”?!

Eggs Benedict is usually served with Canadian bacon, poached egg and the famous Hollandaise sauce. Hanan’s puts a twist to this American classic by giving you the option of Prosciutto (instead of Canadian Bacon) or Salmon.

Take us to the Caribbean with the classic Cuban Plate

The next dish that Chef Napo worked on was the classic Cuban Plate. This dish is served with fried pork, white rice, two fried eggs and fried plantains (platanos maduros). The dish comes together very beautifully. The pork is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I definitely got a lot of nostalgia from the eggs on top of the white rice. We tried several things on the menu which included:

1. Mimosa Flight (Mango, Peach, Strawberry Basil and OJ)

2. Strawberry Basil Lemonade (an all-star favorite)

3. Beef Empanadas

4. Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict

5. The Cuban Plate

I loved the Mimosa Flight and I highly recommend it. My two favorite flavors were the Mango and the Strawberry Mimosas. If you fall in love with the Strawberry Basil Lemonade, then I guarantee the Mimosa Flight is right up your alley.

The Beef Empanadas are a ten on the scale of empanada achievements. The ground beef is seasoned to perfection and is lean without a drop of grease. I also fell in love with the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. I can tell you that they have one of the best Eggs Benedict in town. The secret to the success of this dish is the Hollandaise sauce and the fresh ingredients.

I highly recommend that you visit Hanan’s Cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Whether enjoying a nice cup of coffee, wine or non-alcoholic lemonade, you will find your time and money to be well spent at Hanan’s.
