Texans Positional Draft Analysis

There seems to be a misconception of needs/wants in this sub and I’m not in business of player evaluations so y’all can figure that part out but here’s the positional part of it.

Positions that they should not draft:

QB – pretty self explanatory, need to try Mills this year, if he looks awful they have 2 FRP’s next year to take one

LT – Tunsil is locked up and great at his position

K/P/LS

Positions that they may take late round fliers on/aren’t as big as needs:

RB – it’s not a position worth spending good capital on, you can sign a top 10 RB for $7m a year in FA so no need to waste high draft packs

RT – Tytus Horward is good at his position and locked up for 2023 if they want, can always let him leave if they want to draft his replacement next year

DT – Collins/Blacklock/Lopez are a good group to work with

LB – This is more speculation, but they seem to be trying to fill LB with cheap free agents, and with teams playing ever more increasing nickel spending big money on LB’s is becoming outdated

TE: I like Brevin Jordan, this is a deep but not top heavy TE class and wouldn’t be surprised to see them take one to complement him in round 4/5

Positions worth spending high draft capital on:

IOL: Simply put, the interior sucks but this usually isn’t a position you spend high picks on but could see them taking G/C’s in day 2 or Linderbaum in mid-late 1st if they trade back

DE: Greenard is great but they need another pass rusher. 3rd most premium position after QB and LT this is a big need

DB: Defensive backfield currently is not a strength, some quality corners or safeties are guys to look out for on first 2 days

WR: Cooks is a great vet, Collins is a good young piece, need another guy to help Mills out however + Cooks is getting old

Hopes this helps cut down on a few of the mocks we see that are… wrong. Probably not though
