Is it just me or have electricity prices absolutely spiked?

I've hit that time of year where i'm about to switch energy providers and holy f**k everything is so expensive. At the cheapest plan I can find, if I were to use the exact same amount of energy as the last 12 months I'm looking at paying $400-$500 more then before. I can't seem to find anything that isn't, at minimum, an additional two/three cents more per kilowatt.

Did something happen?
