The Rodgers contract increases Watson’s trade value
Watson has an incredibly team friendly deal. His cap hit is now a pittance with the salary cap increasing as well. With Jackson and Murray wanting new contracts that will now be $50,000,000+ a year.
Caserio is happy seeing how much Rodgers got paid because he now can use the contract as a huge value for Watson in a trade even more than before. If we don’t get 3 firsts for Watson now, it’ll be embarrassing unless one of those picks is in the top 10.
Ask yourself this question: would you rather have Jackson on a contract of 8 years/380 million or Watson 4/160 million even with his legal issues? When you think about it from that perspective, it’s easy to see that GMs will ignore his legal issues.
