IAH Pickup / Terminal E

Just landed at IAH in terminal E and had family to pick me up outside. It’s a disaster with bailey any room for folks to wait for their rides on the sidewalk and just one long line of cars. What do you recommend? Are the other terminals like this or is it just E? Should we have gotten picked up in a different terminal? Thanks!
