What’s with the Davis Mills hate?

I think it’s safe to say Money Mills has earned his place as QB1 next year and I for one am excited to see what he does if we can get him some weapons to work with.

But it seems on every Reddit post/ Tweet/ article there is an army of folks writing him off already? He’s shown the a good amount of flashes and has improved on a week by week basis which is all really what you want from a rookie QB. If he was one of the 1st round QBs he’d be considered “promising” IMO.

If you take out the Bills game that was played away in a rainstorm and we got walloped he’d have 12 TDs and 5 ints with a QBR of 90.8.

He’s shown the arm talent to take some deep shots with ease, he isn’t a statue in the pocket and makes quick reads, and his Redzone numbers and very good.

He seems to be a smart guy, the locker room seems to like him, and his college growth was stunted like crazy due to injuries and COVID.

Is he going to be Mahomes? Almost certainly not, but could be be a solid QB1 and with a legit team around him lead us back to the playoffs, I don’t see why not if he continues to trend upwards.

Is it only his draft pedigree that people are writing him off for? Were people like this with Dak or Russ, or is the narrative simply in place because well .. Texans.
