Houston’s Rap Scene Breakdown

Andro Kano taps into his past in the rap music scene as an artist and a writer to explore the music genre and its evolution over the years. Join us as we explore seasoned and up and coming artists:

A word from Andro Kano:

Times have really changed in the hip hop and rap scene since the 90s. The only way to “make it” was for a record label to pick you up and make you famous.

There was a lot of groundwork to be done in order to get noticed by record labels.

In today’s growing age of social media platforms, it is not necessary for record labels to pick you up to become famous. Through education and understanding, rap and hip hop has spurred social awareness in communities around the country. Rap music has served as a tool to speak out against negative aspects of life such as violence, sexual assault, guns, suicide, and drugs.

About Houston Rapper – Scarr Burgs

Many artists use their musical talents to promote peace, love, and anti-violence acts. Here’s an up and coming artist, Scarburg, who is doing just that.

Houston City Beat’s Andro Kano sat down with Scarburgs and broke down the transformation of rap music in the lyrics and life of the artist – Scarrburgs.

About Houston Rapper/Reggaeton Artist – Wasel

Houston City Beat’s Andro Kano caught up with Houston Native Wasel Torres from Waselmuzik (Ambitious Writerz) for an on location interview. Wasel credits his rising success to his dedication to his music as a business venture. Having just the talent alone is not enough. You need to invest time, money, heart, passion and soul.

He has performed in Miami, New York, and most recently at the Latin Grammys after his performance at Mandalay Bay. Congratulations Wasel, we salute you for your hard work and accomplishments. #Grammys #waselmuzik #mandalaybay #HoustonCityBeat #androkano #getit

Today we would like to recognize Houston Native Wasel Torres from Waselmuzik (Ambitious Writerz).

Personally I have watched this man grow in the music industry for 15 years, these are the roots of his labor.
