Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner claims victory over Tony Buzbee

HOUSTON — Mayor Sylvester Turner claimed victory Saturday night over challenger Tony Buzbee in a runoff election.

With 84 percent of the voting locations counted, Turner had 58 percent of the vote compared to Buzbee’s 42 percent. (As of 11:28 p.m., 95 percent of voting locations were counted, and Turner was leading with 56.25 percent.)
