Social Security Office Still Only Mail-In?

I just got married and I'm trying to change my name on my social security card. According to their website they're still not accepting in-person appointments- but I'm not sure if this is outdated information. Can anyone confirm if this is still true? Otherwise I need to mail-in my application with several important items, such as my drivers license, which I'd like to avoid if possible. (Anyone have experience with mail-in application recently? What was the turnaround rate?) Thanks!
