Cool neighborhoods for walks?

Really into historic architecture, was wondering if there were any good houston neighborhoods that are walkable with lots of it, whether residential or commercial. Was walking around in EaDo before game 1 of the WS last week and was irritated about all the identical townhouse things, which are becoming more and more frequent…so anywhere without those is appreciated(I know that may be difficult given their prevalence).
