Road etiquette in H-Town (rant)
Preface: So I’m a 27m born and raised in the Houston area. Quite a checkered past but recently I’ve settled down with a wife and child in the new Caney area.
Recently I’ve been allowed to drive again, after spending two years in prison for a motorcycle accident where I flew through a vehicle and killed someone. I have a new F-150 and, at the request of my probation officer, it has a governor limiting the speed to 65mph.
I drive frequently. I work 7 days a week driving to the medical center or to the spring area for work and, even sometimes, around the greater Houston area.
On long drives I like to take advantage of my truck’s fuel efficiency. I will set my cruise control at 60/65 depending on the area and my mpg is about 24 on average.
Recently I’ve noticed that a lot of Houston drivers find that the speed limit is somewhat of a speed recommendation/minimum/suggestion.
We all know how serious Houston cops can be. Not all of us are familiar with how bad Houston jail is. It is terrible, not a good place. I don’t recommend it.
So tell me why I get so many brake checks, gestures, and angry drivers… Let’s all keep in mind that, I personally can attest, speeding kills and fortunately I’m alive but someone died due to my negligence/recklessness while driving.
So next time you see a car going at or slightly above the speed limit, please hold back the urge to honk, brake, gesture or whatever is your preferred method of road rage.
Rant over. If you or anyone needs an electrician dm me and my father and I can assist your needs.
