Nov. 2 election will determine whether The Woodlands will become a city
Since 2010, The Woodlands has had a unique status among Texas communities. It’s the state’s only township, a local governmental unit — or special purpose district — without the full authority and structure of a city.
That could change after the Nov. 2 election, when residents will be asked to decide if they want to remain a township or become the city of The Woodlands. Early voting in Texas started last week and runs through Oct. 29.
