Shell, McDermott, UH and NASA team up for hydrogen storage research

One of the keys to the future of Houston’s economy might emerge from research by a particular group of Houston companies and institutions, including the University of Houston and subsidiaries of Royal Dutch Shell PLC (NYSE: RDS-A, RDS-B) and McDermott International Ltd.

The Department of Energy chose that consortium for a $6 million grant to research storage of liquid hydrogen, something that’s necessary to turn what’s now mainly a fossil fuel byproduct into a globally traded clean fuel source.
