Potential QB in the draft to watch for

So two things real quick.

  1. I’m not the first guy in this sub to point this player out.

2.) I’ve been someone who thinks this QB draft class is pretty cheeks (I still do).

That being said someone who’s really caught my is Matt Corral out of Ole Miss (6’2 and 205 lbs).

In 2020 his stats were 10 starts, 71% completion rating on 326 attempts for 3337 yards and 29 touchdowns to 14 interceptions.

This year, so far, he is at 3 starts, 69% completion rating (nice) on 96 attempts. 1000 yards, 9 touchdowns to 0 interceptions . Competition this year has been Louisville, Tulane, and Austin Peay.

And btw I forgot to mention he did last year and this year while attempting 10.2+ on yards per attempt.

In terms of talent well then by my (untrained) eye he’s quite talented. Not Herbert or Allen but definitely in Deshauns range. Has good natural touch, solid running ability (think Mahomes-esque), and can put the ball 60 yards downfield relatively easy.

He’s at Ole Miss so Kiffin gets him good looks but he makes solid decisions and can put the ball where his receivers need it. Has hit a lot of good back shoulder passes and nails his simple routes. Has show he can go through his progressions. He’s good.

I still think the play for the Texans is a high valued defensive prospect but say he falls to ten or twelve and we have the assets to move up? I won’t be mad. We have Pep Hamilton who is maybe the best QB coach in football.

Anyway decide for yourselves.

Here’s his 2020 highlights (if you want to see full snap individual games then try “2020 Matt Corral vs” into YouTube. Some games should pop up). https://youtu.be/0iJ6titP6tQ
